Description

At Fischione Instruments, technology doesn’t support the business; technology is our business. As an Image Processing/Computer Vision engineer, you will be responsible for the development of real-time software for the embedded systems associated with sophisticated scientific instrumentation and diverse applications for embedded Linux on either PC-class machines or ARM systems. Our development environments are based in both Linux and Microsoft Windows.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Engineer innovative, game-changing new products and product features
  • Support and maintain existing products
  • Participate in problem analysis, algorithm development, algorithm testing, and integration into the control system architecture
  • Participate in the development of imaging hardware specifications
  • Provide driver-level support and manage operating system integration of the imaging system and related components
  • Support the complete software development lifecycle, including specifications, design, hardware interfacing, implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science (or equivalent); Bachelor’s degree will be considered
  • Demonstrated experience in software development for real-time image processing, computer vision, image segmentation, pattern matching, and target classification
  • Demonstrated experience in camera integration via video streaming, video compression, and raw video manipulation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in C++ for real-time systems and off-line image processing tools (such as MATLAB or equivalent, GIMP, or other image manipulation tools)
  • Cross-platform development experience and Linux kernel configuration experience is a plus
  • Experience with precision mechanical stage positioning systems is a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience
