Description
Fischione Instruments is seeking a Lead Buyer/Planner for our world-class manufacturing facility located in Export, PA. Our Lead Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing, analyzing, and implementing ERP procurement strategies that focus on delivering corporate goals, inventory control, and lean initiatives to maintain a productive work environment. Ensures the flow of materials in coordination with production schedules to meet on-time customer delivery of highly technical microscopy and nanotechnology preparation equipment. The Lead Buyer/Planner also coordinates with management, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure the accurate development of short/mid/long term production schedule.
Core Responsibilities
Purchasing
- Manage key supplier accounts, including qualifications, selection, negotiation, contract development, lead times, performance monitoring, and overall supplier reduction
- Establish, develop, and maintain strong vendor relationships - Preparing, issuing, and following up on purchase orders and work orders
- Track inbound material shipments and resolve supply chain delays proactively
- Right size production inventory reducing excess inventory and minimizing stockouts
- Develop cost savings opportunities by collaborating closely with key suppliers, Manufacturing and Engineering teams
- Prepare and provide performance indices to management when required
- Provide recommendations to management regarding capital equipment purchases, technological improvements, quality process improvements, safety, training, cost reductions, efficiency improvements, supplier reduction, and outsourcing that will improve the company’s overall performance
- Develop, implement, and manage an aggressive purchased material cost reduction effort
Planning
- Initiate and maintain the master schedule and overseeing the material requirements planning process
- Initiate and maintain the production schedule to ensure on-time delivery
- Develop contingency production schedule when during supply chain interruptions
- Manage all aspects of production work orders in support of the production cycle, including production planning, capacity planning, shop floor control, and order picking sequence
- Assume leadership role in production planning meetings and keeping the stay informed as to progress and issues affecting the company’s goals and objective
Lead Buyer/Planner will report to Operations Manager
This role will supervise one purchasing agent
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of science degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive experience in procurement, material resource planning, and production scheduling
- Effective communication and negotiation skills - Purchasing experience in multiple commodities simultaneously a plus
- Enthusiasm for staying abreast of new techniques and technologies; the ability to coach and teach employees.
- Demonstrated ability to reach aggressive, time-critical business objectives
- Detail-oriented with a proven understanding of best practices in the areas of manufacturing, purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, and resource planning.
- Hands-on technology skills, including experience with ERP information systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook - Association for Supply Chain Management (APIC) certification is a plus
- Ability to adjust schedule based on operational needs
